WordPress email protector Plugin

no-spamPosting your email as a mailto: in websites is just so very handy, but what is not good about doing this, is that spambots will trawl your site and ‘harvest’ your email address and you’ll get tonnes of spam.

My solution? This is a little WordPress Plugin that checks all content and re-writes email addresses in a more secure peice of javascript that will help solve this issue.

The javascript is only a very basic one, you could make it more complex if you’re REALLY paranoid about it, but this is definately better than doing nothing at all.

Have a go if you like – I’ve installed it on my 2.8.4 WP installation, and that’s as far as my testing has gone – as it’s so simple, I can’t see it not working elsewhere.

Steps to install

Download HidemyEmail.zip

Upload either via the WordPress Plugin installer, or extract the zip file, and upload the wp-content/plugins/

Go to WordPress Admim -> Plugins -> Activate “Email Protector”

Voila!

  1. Thanks Ben! Installing it on all 52 of my blogs.
