Webstock Conference 2014

There has always been a lot of hype around Webstock. It’s highly regarded around the world as one of the most inspirational / thought provoking conferences for anyone who works in the creative industries.

Webstock is not a “show and tell” style conference, where someone will talk about optimising code or designing for mobile first, the latest jQuery library or how smart vectors work in the latest version of Photoshop. The only way I’d describe it is a “mindset altering” conference.

The organisers of Webstock do a great job at sourcing some local and international heavy-weights of their respective fields. This year was just the same. Some speakers I’d heard before but mostly new. …

Europe 2013

It’s now 6 months since I got back from my trip to Europe, which is both amazing how quickly the year has gone by, it’s also a testament to how slack I am at finishing off blog posts!

This was my first time to Europe, and for this reason, the 2 week journey was split over three countries. We visited Paris, London and Barcelona. This post I wanted to share a few of my thoughts and some of my favourite pictures taken.

Up up and away & switched off

Early next week I’m headed off for a two week break to Europe. Leading up to this flight, (and most), I get excited. One of the things I look forward to the most is being able to get onto a plane, and turn off. A close second would have to be the champagne, but number one is being able to turn off my iPhone and laptop and fall into a state of bliss.

It is something I enjoy about flying, the lack of communication and it’s a way to ‘escape’ the work life, that pretty much surrounds me 24×7.

Dinner at Euro

It’s no secret, I’m a fan of nice food. Just over a year ago I was introduced to Euro restaurant in Auckland, and it’s become one of my favourites.

Euro do a kick-ass job in my opinion (albeit very limited) because they build their dishes with only the bare required ingredients, but they use the absolute best from all over the world. The core ingredients do the work for you, you don’t need to make it more complicated than it has to be. (Can you tell, I am so not a ‘foodie’)
