Whats wrong with Kevin Rudd

Kevin Rudd ….Nothings wrong, it’s just the party he is affiliated with that could cause him the election.

Kevin Rudd, as a person could do great things for Australia. What Kevin’s biggest draw back will be, in my opinion, is the party he supports. Liberal has always had a good name in Australia for keeping the economy stable, labor has always had a bad name for Interest Rates, Unions, and Bad Leadership.

If Only Kevin Rudd was on the Liberal Party, he’d be the ideal successor for John Howard. As Rudd does offer some fresh ideas and a new leader would be a pleasant change from Howard.

Another labor draw back, is that labor would then control all levels of Gov. which could have some drastic measures.

Let’s see what happens, I try not to write about Politics much as it is very topical - so lets see how it goes.

  1. Problem with you Ben is you live in QLD. With only one major paper (Courier Mail) which is owned by News Corp and biased to the right and in a state known for its sometimes backwards right wing views you are raised in a climate where a lot of people think the same way….

I think its disingenuous with the post you made to say Rudd on the Liberal party would be the best situation, because if he were on the Liberal party his policies would not be the same.

By the way… get a spell checker! :P

  2. You have to be kidding? The Liberal party, led by John Howard, are living in the 1950’s. So many of their policies are so conservative and controlled by the chruch that they are hardley worth even having. Not suprising that you support the liberals though, you seem to also support business.

  3. Hi Jacob. What do you mean, I support Business? I hate to tell you but that’s how the world runs. The way I see it, the liberal party has not done anything wrong enough to loose power. They have kept the economy strong and growing for the last 10 or so years.

Labor may have some good ideas, but they’ve also got a bad whif about them (their history) as this post tried to explain.. They may do okay, but they may not as well, so I think it’s best to leave what works, to the right party.

  4. Hey Mike Beckham
No need for the insults. Try debating the issues and not the man. Surely can can come back with some intelligent argument.

Good on you Ben. I don’t agree with your view of KR. I don’t think he has the strength to lead the Country regardless of his politics. Despite what he says, whenever he gets into trouble he blames someone else. Bring back Kim.

  5. The economy may also have something to do with the natural mining boom and even the states all under Labor. It’s not all just the current federal government.

  6. Stop repeating what Rudd says, and think for yourself. Nobody said it was the current federal govt. And it isn’t just the mining that’s making the country boom. I know Hervey Bay is Booming because of a strong business economy and strong real estate growth.

  7. “Nobody said it was the current federal govt.”

“They (Fed Government) have kept the economy strong and growing for the last 10 or so years.”

  8. Ha. Well spoted. If only that was in context, I’d be a complete Liar.

Fact Is, Liberal Party has maintained the country / been in charge for last 10 years.

  9. Nobody is denying they “maintained the country” however that does mean they directed the country in the right way and does not mean they should be doing better seeing as they have had 11 years in power. The economy is not just the work and success of the Federal government that’s made the economy the way it is unlike what you make it out to be.

That’s why some of Labor’s policy’s are exciting especially their commitments to Broadband (which is not perfect but better than Sen. Helen “256kb/s is enough for anyone” Coonan’s lack of knowledge of broadband).

  10. I’ve never made it only the federal govt. They’ve just been in power whilst this has happend. So Simply, Liberal Party = Good

Yes, Labor do have some “Interesting” plans.. But having so many awesome plans are a great way to over spend and throw a budget out of surplus, and then higher interest rates, etc etc..

You know as well as I do, the federal govt. has limited control over broadband as Telstra are private. However, I’m on a 24mb connection in a semi “rural” area, so I’m not complaining too much

  11. I’m glad your happy with your speed but a hell of a lot of the country don’t even have DSL.

  12. Ben,
Your views on Labor are a little distorted. Australia has been in two world wars, in both case the the people chose Labor to see them through. Depression years Labor saw us through. The reason labor governments have to spend up large, is because conservative governments always cut back. In this country we fail to have a middle road. The real test for any government is the state of mind of the people. At this point in time I don’t believe it’s good. What’s you view Ben?

  13. Jonangle,

You do make a good point - however some of those points are a bit open. I mean, it’s hard to say weather Liberal would have achieved the same results. We all know it’s a different time to back then.

You seem to be pretty smart, and I’m sure you understand that no matter the party, leader, interest rate, whatever, people are always going to complain. If the interest rates were 4% and howard put them up to 5% - then he’d still be as bad as the devil. Same as Rudd - he might do all this spending, and there will always be hospitals that are worse off, or roads not fixed.

Elections just seems to be a heap of finger pointing

  14. Ben,
You appear to have missed the point, Labor weren’t in power by chance, they were elected. Pre 2nd war Menzies stood down to let Labor take over. It’s rather like stick and carrot, Labor for the tough times, conservatives for the fun. But you haven’t answered my question. What state of mind is Australia in right now?

jonangel on 27th October, 2007 at 8:14 am
  15. I did in some respects - The country are not satisfied. But they never will be… Someone will always be upset about something
