In their own words…

The following is from one of the Australian Liberal Parties emails I receive, this is quite a good one. Especially because I can’t stand Julia Gillard.

In a radio interview yesterday, Julia Gillard said:

“No-one 12 months ago was talking about a global financial crisis, now everybody is talking about a global financial crisis.” (Interview, ABC ‘AM’ 24/11/08)

Wrong!

On 12 November 2007, then-Treasurer Peter Costello warned:

“The collapse of the sub-prime US lending market which is now having reverberations around the world. And all of these things will buffet global inflation, they will buffet our economy, they will buffet exchange rates, they will affect growth and job opportunities. They will require careful management on the Budget, on tax, on structural policy, on industrial relations, on competitiveness, on investment.” (Speech 12/11/07)

The reality is that after only 12 months of Rudd and Labor, Australia is less prosperous, our economy is rapidly getting weaker and the outlook for Australian families and businesses is more uncertain than ever.
Rudd and Labor can only offer excuses. They have no economic strategy to protect and build Australia.
When crucial decisions are needed, Rudd and Labor are either being panicked into taking poorly thought through decisions or becoming bogged down in bureaucracy and indecision. Rudd and Labor are clearly lost.

Whilst on the political rant,  let me share with you the Kevin Rudd Store.

I love the Kevin Rudd Memorabilia store that the liberals have set up! It features such things as, the “Kyoto Protocol Pen” – A replica of the pen with which Kevin Rudd signed the Kyoto Protocol and single-handedly saved the planet. Other great items include, the “Fuel Watch, Watch” and the “Kevin Rudd Model Plane” – Now you can fly whenever and wherever you like – just like Kevin Rudd!

  5. Why would you ask a 20 year old web developer what the Australian Govt. should do? How would I know? How would most people know.

  6. Ben,

Like you I don’t know the answer. However, I don’t believe we can continue to live on credit.
Sooner or later the Piper must be paid. At the moment ALL the western governments seem to be propping up a failing system. Surely we must move away from the live now pay later life style?
The higher you climb, the further you have to fall.
