Sitting back and Watching

It’s terrific fun to sit back and watch people argue, especially on trivial topics.

People in the know, know that if you want people to interact on your site / blog / facebook / whatever, controversy is the key. I write some articles here that stir the pot, and wait for the barage of comments I recieve.

I was not expecting this typ of reaction when I wrote a one paragraph post about Hungry Jacks opening in Hervey Bay, over two years ago!

When you now Google Hungry Jacks Hervey Bay my little post comes up first. And after writing this post, I have had a slow, but constant stream of comments. Ranging from nice things to say, to bad experiences at Hungry Jacks, and some rather amusing arguments between other readers.

Click here to have a read, the comments are by far the best

  1. What I’d like to know is why it took 22 months for these dropkick kids who work there to get all hot and bothered over the comments. You posted this article in October 2007 after all.

  2. it took people like you 22 months to start whinging and whineing attacking the youth of thins town maybe you should live a little ptrica and realise not everyone is as bad as you think they are in you sheltered little world

  3. I’m not suggesting that all the youth of today are bad. What I’m saying is that the children employed at Hungry Jacks in Hervey Bay are very poor performers, don’t care one little bit about their work ethics, and are completely the wrong sort of people for that job. Until the management realise this, their bottom line will continue to suffer. Hopefully the new owners will sack about 90- percent of the current staff and employ people who actually WANT to work, and appreciate the opportunity to learn valuable life skills.

  4. How hick town is Hervey Bay? Arguing over Hungry Jacks?

Get some perspective… and some taste.

  6. Hi Mike,
I think the point being made is that we DO have taste. We are refusing to eat at Hungry Jacks because both the service and the food is simply not up to scratch.
As for being a hick town, what do people in your town on your planet do when you experience bad service and dangerous food handling practices? Do you just accept it, or do you try to do something about it? If trying to change something that isn’t right makes us “hicks”, then so be it. I can live with that.
There’s been over 50 comments to this small blog, and yet only two of the comments are positive. One being from a bloke called Steve who admitted to working there, and another positive comment on the same day by a person named “Casper” – who as it turned out to be the same person posting under the name “Steve”. It makes you wonder WHY an employee of the business would go to the trouble of changing his name to leave a positve comment. Even a hick like me knows that the ONLY reasonable explanation for this is that even Steve knows that the service disgraceful, and he knows that unless he leaves a positive comment himself, nobody will.

  7. I want to know why you care so much about Hungry Jacks? Do you eat there every day? I hope not.

Just don’t get food from there anymore, it’s not exactly good quality from stores with good service anyways.

It’s full of grease, the meat quality is poor and the fries are cooked in beef tallow. McDonalds have way better standards of preparations these days.

  8. Oh Mike, now you’ve started another controversy. You are a bigger stirrer than Ben.

Those comments will cause the imbecile known as “HardWorkingYoungPerson” to spend another 22 months trying to come up with another argument why his store is so good.
Sadly, if he had spent the last 22 months finishing year 10 at school, he’d have better job prospects than wiping down tables and cleaning toilets at Hungry Jacks.

  9. That’s a fairly elitist statement from someone who so frequently dines at Le Hungry Jacks.
